Local Sporting Champion Program


The Local Sporting Champions program is an Australian Government initiative designed to provide financial assistance for young people aged 12-18 towards the cost of travel, accommodation, uniforms or equipment when competing, coaching or officiating at an official national sporting organisation (NSO) endorsed state, national or international sporting championships or a School Sport Australia state or national championships. For eligibility and criteria see Australian Institute of Sport (AIS)


Young Athlete Travel Subsidy


This is a government initiative that aims to assist young athletes within Queensland who have competed at a State, National and International sporting event. Financial assistance is available to assist with the cost of travel and accommodation for the eligible event. Aspirations for Kids in Sport


Aspirations is making funding grants available to Queensland school students between the ages of 10-19 years who want to play sports but for some reason find it difficult to do so.

Get Started Vouchers Program

What is the program about?
Get Started Vouchers is one of the funding programs that comprise the Queensland Government’s Get in the Game initiative delivered by Sport and Recreation Services to support sport and active recreation at the grassroots level.
The program, which opens in January and July each year, assists children and young people who can least afford to join a sport or active recreation club.
Eligible children and young people can apply online for a voucher valued up to $150, which can be redeemed at a registered sport or recreation club to contribute towards the cost of sport or active recreation membership/participation fees.
Who is eligible to apply?
Eligible applicants are Queensland children and young people aged from 5 to 17 (inclusive) who either:
• hold or whose parent, carer or guardian holds a valid Centrelink Health Care Card or Pensioner Concession Card with the child’s name on it; or
• identified by a registered referral agent e.g. School Principal, Child Safety Officer.
